Can you imagine playing a game without a set of rules? A school without a student handbook? A major corporation without a set of standard operating procedures? A publication without editorial policies? Can you? No? No. Just like what the previous questions imply, you simply cannot exist in a community, an organization, or even a small group without having a set of rules, guidelines, and procedures that tell you what to do and otherwise. And when talk shifts to countries and states, what you can and cannot do are not just silly little rules anymore, they become laws - strict, precise, and impenetrable.

Laws play a huge role in the progress -- economically and not, of a country. It serves as the intermediary between individuals, legal entities, and other social beings, so to speak. Aside from this, laws also highlight people's obligations as citizens of a country, and of the world (there are international laws, of course). There are tons of laws out there that one must at least try to understand. There's trust law which relates to investment and financial security, criminal law which allows the state to punish the culprit by serving time in prison for example, constitutional law which consists of details on how to create laws, and administrative law which is related with the decisions of state agencies.

It would probably take decades for a normal person to fully understand and delve into its intricacies. Implementing laws is made possible by the police and the military, who both play the vital role in ensuring that laws are rightly upheld. With the law, the concept of justice comes into play. As it is in black and white, the law does not see according to social status as it recognizes truth, facts, and correctness. Law is a highly objective concept that spares no one, even if you're the head of state. To reason with the law is difficult, but to obey it is way easier. If you don't want to end up in a prison cell, never be ignorant of the law.

To sum it all up, a country cannot exist without laws. Without it, bedlam would not cease to exist too. Violence and mayhem would be just another dust in the air, just another speck of dirt in the window, and just another part of a freakishly uneventful day. Without laws, rightness and wrongness are nothing but pure gibberish. This is perhaps one of the reasons you could consider becoming a lawyer.
